Turkish Cultural Center of Queens is a non-governmental and non-profit organization that has come out of the Turkish-American community of New York. Throughout years, Turkish Cultural Center organizes socio-cultural events to promote intercultural dialogue and understanding.
One of the various activities organized by our Center is the Intercultural Trip to Turkey. This trip has been specifically designed for academics, politicians, bureaucrats, community service providers, journalists and other related professionals to enhance their multicultural experience as well as intercultural relations between the American and Turkish societies.
The trip aims providing the participants with original intercultural experience at the meeting place of the West and the East. Secular and democratic Turkey is home to a mosaic of different cultures, religions and ethnicities, and as such provides a living example of peaceful coexistence of different communities. The trip includes visits to the historic sites that have significance in Jewish, Christian and Muslim traditions, interactions with the local people, and meetings with academics and local officials such as mayors and governors.
Trip participants are asked to purchase their international travel tickets. Accommodation, food and domestic travel expenses in Turkey are sponsored by BAKIAD (Bogazici Atlantik Kulturler Arasi Diyalog Dernegi – Bosphorus Atlantic Intercultural Dialogue Association), which is based in Istanbul, Turkey and is Turkish Cultural Center’s partner in Turkey to implement the Intercultural Trip to Turkey.
