Turkish classes are a wonderful opportunity for Americans to learn more about our language and culture. TCC Queens’s experienced instruction team is planning to teach the Turkish language to hundreds of Americans this year.

Time: Weekday classes 6pm-9pm (one day) or Weekend classes are 4pm-7pm (one day)

Here is a brief information about our course levels...

Course Levels:

In order that you can learn Turkish in a systematic fashion, we based our main levels onto general grammar categories.

  • Basic Level includes basic tenses and simple sentential relation;
  • Intermediate Level includes verb forms peculiar to Turkish (such as voices) and subordinate structures;
  • Advanced Level includes syntactic structure of Turkish, textual features and complex grammar structures.

While we designed sub-levels, we took into consideration the use of frequency of grammar structures, those structures that you will need to use while speaking Turkish in daily communication settings, focusing on a learning process that gradually develops from easy item into relatively more difficult ones.

In this site, we intend to teach you such basic skills as reading, speaking and writing within the framework of "grammar". Therefore, we present features and grammar rules particular to Turkish language by allocating them among different lessons.

Basic Level

At this level, you will study those structures which will enable to communicate with ease in daily activities.

At this level, you will learn some structures you will need to speak and write in such situations as

  • Meeting people
  • Describing people
  • Telling and asking the time
  • Speaking on the phone
  • Asking and showing the way
  • Expressing feelings (happiness, sadness)
  • Asking for help
  • Shopping
  • Making comparisons

Intermediate Level

At this level, you will study those structures which will enable to acquire language skills in order to use Turkish more effectively and in a more natural way.

At this level, you will be able to

  • Tell your past experiences, places visited, activities performed
  • Tell your plans about the future
  • Narrate incidents indirectly
  • Speak about problems and topics related with occupation
  • Understand and certain jokes and tales
  • Tell and comment upon certain idioms and proverbs
  • Comprehend such simple written texts as newspaper items and letters as well as television and radio programs
  • Tell in detail what you can do, what your abilities and wishes are.

Advanced Level

At this level, you will study those structures which will enable to use Turkish in a most effective and aesthetic way.

You will acquire such skills as to be able to

  • Read and discuss about newspapers, magazines and articles on any topic
  • Follow daily events
  • Solve those problems you are likely to encounter in your social
  • Environment by using Turkish
  • Present your views, talk, write and discuss on any topic
  • Understand a film and a novel or poem of a certain level of difficulty
  • Express what you understand in written or oral form
